Welcome back to the land of the living.

"Which makes it marginally better? I guess? Is it less gross to pimp out a 10 year old to become a social media star if they agree 5 years later it was a good move?"

No, I think it's still just as gross. I'm sure it's easy enough for a 15 year-old to look around at the poors and the not famous, work backwards and decide that it's better they're famous than to not be, but my guess is that when this young lady hits her thirties (or has kids herself, god help us) she'll have some kind of reckoning about the direction the people in her orbit took her childhood.

Re: PR tips-

You're definitely right. Whenever I see some teary-eyed apology hostage video, I cannot help but imagine the setup process that a too-self-conscious celebrity goes through. Where they are gonna place the camera, checking the lighting, making sure they are wearing the right amount of makeup for the shot, but not too much so it doesn't look like they overthought it, at what point during their speech they are going to cry.

It's very funny to imagine a celeb/influencer going through their routine, bored, putting make up on, setting up lights, and then flipping the switch and getting very emotional on cue for the apology. It's probably why they all look so artificial.
