A fun internet fact is that clickthrough rates on links are almost always shockingly low on almost all kinds of articles and essays, but man, those people who don't click through are missing the good stuff.
Ted Cruz's podcast getting 1.5M monthly downloads broke something in me. I can't compute it.
Partially based on this post, I asked my family group chat how they felt about Gavin's recent online presence and my mom and brother (longtime, "normie" Dems) said: "I'm glad to see someone fighting back against that idiot," and "I've long said that Michelle Obama was wrong to 'go high'"
so he definitely seems to be resonating with the base!
Great post but I don’t think Demonhunters is starting the trend as much as continuing or strengthening it. Running Up That Hill was number one for weeks after Stranger Things season 4 (37ish years after it first came out!).
The UK section could have used an editorial once-over, there's a couple of missed words and repeated phrases.
I'm a little confused about the bewilderment over KPDH. The movie's songs are written by a K-Pop artist to *be* pop songs, and K-Pop in particular has been pretty popular with The Youths for a while now. Add to that a really weak year without a lot of exciting new releases (like, Pink Pony Club is still in the Top 20, and A Bar Song and Good Luck Babe are both still in the list) and the competition against them is pretty weak and tired.
It's also not like Disney movies haven't had songs break through and top the charts, most just don't have more than one song with pop music potential. Encanto had multiple songs from one movie that charted, famously "We Don't Talk About Bruno" which... I never got the appeal of.
Just want to congratulate you on a particularly strong set of posts of the week here.

My co-workers think I'm quite a bit funnier than I am thanks to you, Jeremiah. You're #doingthelordswork
The Philomena Cunk post made me cackle.

I'd be surprised if a politician with a podcast had more downloads than IQ points.
