I've been thinking about the "lib Joe Rogan" question more, and I wonder how much is just the medium. We never saw left-wing talk radio take off either.
I check in on BlueSky once a day, and there's really some good people over there. But it also represents much of the worst of the censorious left. Yglesias tried it for a few days and stopped because he was treated like a Nazi. Something similar would surely happen with Chait if he tried. Jesse Singal would be hanged in effigy on BlueSky. There's plenty of ordinary liberals over there who aren't like this, but they've stood by for the browbeatings. The sad result is that, for left of center people, BlueSky is far too much of a frustrating monoculture.
I joined a long time ago, during the waiting list stage, but never used it, and have recently gone back after trying Threads again and finding it...well...boring as shit. BlueSky is decent right now in terms of a decent mix of stuff I want (i.e. sports, politics, humor), but you are absolutely correct. I searched both Matt and Jesse to see if I could follow them and all I found were the most unhinged posts about what people should do if they see Jesse have an account there.
It's like the left-wing writ into social media, i.e. "yes, we want this social media platform to be more popular, but only filled with people who agree with 100% of what I believe, the 97.5% need not apply"
The emoji used to represent the New Orleans Saints is the "fleur-de-lis", which in a Catholic context apparently (according to Wikipedia) also symbolizes the Immaculate Conception of Mary, a distinctively Catholic dogma. So perhaps the Vatican isn't bothered by the emoji at all

It's a shame that the Catholic Church didn't release Luce early enough for it to become the Halloween Costume of the Year.
I can't understand why, after all the child sexual abuse scandals, they chose a cute little anime of a child as their mascot. Talk about tone deaf!

Conservative election denying too! Musk has been retweeting about how it’s crazy Dems won senate seats in states Trump won and it must be fraud.
Ridiculous amount of good stuff in this post 🙏
I'm not sure it does when you have as much money as Elon. I mean, when you spend 50 bucks on something, is there some grand strategic plan?
