In this week’s Weekly Scroll: The GOP candidate for governor in North Carolina calls himself a ‘Black Nazi with a golden shower fetish’, the NFL opens an official Discord and how could that possibly go wrong, Elon Musk backs down and gives in to the Brazilian court system, Snapchat can’t decide what kind of social network they are, and a very good basket joke.

Ok, let’s be real here. This is a blog about weird stuff that happens on the social internet. Things get bizarre and/or gross here pretty often. But this may be the grossest, weirdest story on the blog to date. I am absolutely not brave enough to put this on a public facing post, so we’re paywalling it. North Carolina’s Lt. Governor Mark Robinson had one of the most incredible scandals I’ve ever seen this week, and it’s because of old internet comments he made.

I do have some thoughts about the whole episode beyond gawking at the dumpster fire that is Robinson’s gubernatorial campaign. There’s actually something we can learn from this. But first, let’s gawk at the dumpster fire. I’ll give fair warning now that it’s going to get very NSFW, very fast.
