> The flag of the American state of Georgia was used to represent the country of Georgia, which is less of a diplomatic stance and more of a comically myopic American mistake.

Ah, the internet.

I always found it funny that people bother to get mad at whatever intern had to pick a map from the internet for the video. It's giving big 'Vietnam bans the Barbie movie over the 9 dash line' energy

Sure, but both are also expressions of how weird it is to live in a world where some guy's youtube channel and a corporation's efforts to revamp the image of one of its flagship products can be more noticeable to international actors than, like, some nation-states.

I have no idea the goals of these non-profits, but suing a think tank for putting out a report is obviously a deeply stupid and insecure thing to do.

The issue with this specific story is that while *I* care deeply "about the actual issue of freedom of expression and what changes the people who run and support these organizations want to make to it", as you put it, is that all of Musk's beclowning himself has shown that he, shitposts aside, does not.

To quote another foreign blowhard who has bunch of kids he doesn't give a shit about, he's not a serious person.

He want to be the main character of Twitter. That's it. And as any internet gremlin can tell you, the goal is to never be the main character of Twitter.

Of course I care about changes to the informational water supply. But in terms of Elon suing people, he's getting mad at them for describing a problem, not anything to do with suggested solutions. Given that he personally took control of a major part of the social media landscape because he disagreed with them about some of their moderation calls, it's pretty obviously hypocritical for him to be upset that other people disagree with his calls and I don't really feel much sympathy for his claims that their disagreement is somehow sinister.
