I was happier before I knew of this guy's existence.

"Ken, is it a good idea to post all over Twitter about your premeditation for a murder that you then proceed to actually attempt in real life?"

β€œIs you doing tweets on a criminal fucking conspiracy?”

I am tired of the erasure of Canadian cultural accomplishments. Tom Green predates Jackass and basically had the same schtick.

Something terrible that the next one in line will recognize...if your victim is dead they can't testify against you in court.

Thank you for sharing. How horrible.

This feels like that South Park episode World War Zimmerman, but somehow even dumber.

by "hearing them out and debating them with facts and logic" is how we got here gg

Crucially, Jackass was self-inflicted harm to shock an external audience. People like this inflict harm on others.

CTB’s lawyer, channeling Stringer Bell β€œN-, is you sending tweets on a criminal fucking conspiracy?”

But what if a MAGA judge or a MAGA jury lets him get away with this? Or a pardon from a MAGA governor?

This is not over yet. And the ramifications could be extreme - wanton murder of minorities and liberals being made effectively legal. Gangs of alt-right brownshirts showing up to brutalize and even murder people that the powers that be want silenced.

We are in a very dangerous place. And all of this is downstream from the leadership at the very top of our nation - that is a certain orange-hued gangster we call President.

I predict, we gonna get people targeting Indians next if my X feed is any sort of indication.

The racist rage baiting is new, but "dumbass convinces himself he can provoke his way into a self defense shooting" isn't.

>but the police certainly didn’t waste any time charging him, so things look grim for Eatherly’s case

Funny how quick law enforcement action against a white guy indicates his guilt but quick law enforcement action against a black guy is evidence of police malfeasance

No comment on the case itself and I don’t care to look into it further than this post

I think the point is that quick law enforcement action means he's unlikely to be acquitted or get a lighter sentence, not that it means he's guilty. His tweets about "premeditated self defense" indicate his guilt. Also, it depends on what the black guy did. I haven't seen a lot of people leaping to Johnny Somali's defense.

Let’s not pretend to not understand things. The sentence is in the context of the piece, which is clearly arguing that he’s guilty of wrongdoing and feels positively about the prospect of legal sanction being applied

Fortunately fiery but peaceful protests were avoided in the case of Mr. Somali on account of the South Koreans being foreign enough to not trigger leftists’ penchant for self-flagellation

Madeleine's avatar

Well, sure. Eatherly is in fact guilty of wrongdoing, and I too feel positively about the prospect of legal sanction being applied. If a black man incessantly tried to provoke random strangers into fights while tweeting about how much he wanted to be "forced" to shoot someone, I would feel the same way. Johnny Somali is guilty of less serious wrongdoing, and I feel positively about the shorter sentence he has received. I don't think any of those are controversial or uncommon opinions among liberals.

If you don’t believe that leftists are biased against police when they’re opposite a black person but not so when they’re opposite a white person, our respective apprehensions of reality are sufficiently different that we’re not likely to get much agreement on anything, much less my observation that it’s ACAB for leftists until the C is against whitey

Madeleine's avatar

I'm not claiming that there's no bias, just that it's not a factor in this particular case. The overwhelming evidence is that Eatherly is guilty. You don't get much better evidence of premeditation than him tweeting "Series finale is dead chimp on the pavement" days in advance.

Trump's re-election and the insane success of the Michael Jackson biopic where all the proof I needed that there are a few consequences for bad behavior, especially if you're rich and/or white.
